The study of Geography at Loganlea SHS provides students with the opportunity to explore the significance of people, places and environments in our world. Geography aims to inspire curiosity about the world, where students are empowered to think critically, problem-solve and ignite change to create a socially just and sustainable future.
In Years 7-10, students develop an understanding for the world around us. Geographic inquiry is used to ask questions, consider different perspectives, analyse data to propose solutions to real world issues.
Geography is offered in senior schooling. Students investigate a variety of contemporary problems and challenges affecting people and places, at both local and global scales. These challenges inc lude responding to risk in hazard zones, planning sustainable places, managing land cover transformations and planning for population change. Students are immersed in geographic inquiry through fieldwork and 21st century skills are developed through the manipulation of data, spatial technologies and ICT.
