“Acting is a very personal process. It has to do with expressing your own
personality, and discovering the character you’re playing through your own
experience, therefore we’re all different.”
- Ian McKellen.
Drama is the kind of subject that really brings people together. It is a unique
subject that allows students to express themselves, create, problem-solve, gain
confidence, evolve in social situations and develop lifelong memories that will
shape them into young people more prepared for the challenges life may throw at
them.
Drama students have the opportunities of experiencing
performance from professional theatre companies, these experiences are valuable
learning encounters which encourage students to make connections with the wider
theatre industry. Students also participate in Drama Night where they get the
opportunity to showcase their ability to direct, perform and create whilst
working with make-up, costume and stage and lighting design.
The ability of Drama
to embrace any social activities and situations into the classroom empowers
pupils with the skills needed to communicate more effectively in whatever
profession they pursue.
