Loganlea State High School has recently created the Loganlea Rugby League Development Program. The program has been designed to inspire students who are interested in playing Rugby League to achieve success in a positive and encouraging environment. Students gain access to a range of skills that can equip them to solve problems on, and more importantly, off the field. Engaging students academically through Rugby League is something Loganlea State High School prides itself on.
Throughout the year there are a number of opportunities for our students to represent Loganlea State High School, Logan District, Metropolitan East and Queensland. Our girls from Year 7 – Year 12, and boys from Year 7 - 8 compete in the Titans Cup, held on the Gold Coast. With strong competition from a variety of schools, the Titans Cup allows all teams to reach their fullest potential. Our girls also take part in the prestigious Karyn Murphy Cup each year. Students also participate in regular gala days held by the NRL that are played across South-East QLD each term.
In 2022 the Loganlea Rugby League Development Program was introduced into the Health and Physical Education curriculum for girls from Year 7-10. While meeting ACARA requirements, the program aims to develop skills and strategies to become a successful athlete with a focus on Rugby League. The Loganlea Rugby League Development Program also emphasises the importance of strength and conditioning training as well as health and nutrition. Students will receive knowledge and expertise in strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental health, while having the opportunity to obtain qualifications in coaching, officiating and first aid.
The Loganlea Rugby League Development Program allows students to work with industry professionals within Rugby League, as well as being guided by a motivated and experienced coaching staff. The program is an exciting opportunity for students of Loganlea State High School to grow as Rugby League players, students, and young leaders in the community. Our students are provided with a number of pathways within local and representative Rugby League. This is through our partnership with Souths Logan Magpies (Brisbane Broncos Affiliate) as well as affiliate clubs Waterford Demons JRLFC, Logan Brothers JRLFC and Mustangs Brothers JRLFC. These clubs provide our students with incredible opportunities to develop their skills as athletes and as students.
Loganlea State High School boasts a wide range of exceptional facilities specific to Rugby League. This includes a brand new gym, upgraded game analysis room as well as two full size Rugby League fields. Fortunately the Loganlea Rugby League Development Program has partnered with Fitstop Slacks Creek who allow students to access their facilities, including InBody Body Composition scanning. The staff involved in the Loganlea Rugby League Development Program are highly qualified and have experience working with a number of successful schoolboy, club and representative sides.
