The 2013 Inter-house swimming carnival was held on Friday of the first week of school. It was a beautiful sunny day full of fun and great competition. The carnival put our four house groups into a battle for swimming supremacy in events including 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breast stroke, 50m butterfly, 100 freestyle, 4x 25m team relays and the organised chaos which is the ‘Tube rescue relay’.
I have had many comments since the carnival from Loganlea state high school staff about how it was the best swimming carnival they have been to and how much fun was had by all. I would like to thank all the staff and students who participated in the day and made it run so smoothly and most of all made it a fun and competitive day.
Hydra house were dominant for most of the day, leading the total points score for the majority of the day, right up until the relay events (and double points)started. Pegasus house led the way in the relays and ended up coming out as overall winners of the carnival in the closest points race for first in a number of years.
Final team results were:
1st – Pegasus - 881 points2nd – Hydra – 852 points3rd – Sagitta – 628 points4th – Ursa – 575 points
While all students that participated in the day did a fantastic job, only a few could be named as age champions for their age. The following students were our 2013 swimming age champions. They will be awarded with their age champion medallions at the 2013 Sports Awards Breakfast held in term 4.
