Senior music at Loganlea SHS, years 10, 11 and 12, focuses on Composition, Musicology and performance which consists of year 11 and 12 OP music, year 11 and 12 Music in practice and year 10 senior music. Students use a wide range of resources to analyse, perform and create musical works in a range of styles and from a variety of sources.
Senior Music prepares students for year 11 and 12 by introducing musicology and a wider variety of instruments including strings, woodwind and brass. This program allows students to branch out and explore their musical creativity with more individual practice time.
OP Music looks into many areas of the musical world from Classical to musical theatre to Rock and many in between. OP students explore musicology, composition and performance by using music technology, live sound equipment and a wide range of available instruments.
Music in practice is a real-life music course that gives students an insight into the real-world music industry. Students actively plan for, promote and run live events for the school, designing promotional materials, organising and operating venues and live sound equipment as well as perform at these events.
Loganlea SHS also has a rising extracurricular music program which includes junior rock band, senior rock band and Chamber orchestra. Students in these programs will see performance opportunities both within the school and out in the community.
Junior Rock Band consists of only junior students who have a passion for music and performance. Junior rock band instruments include the drum kit, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and vocals.
Senior Rock Band is a group of senior students who are keen musicians that enjoy performing on a regular basis at school based and local competitions and shows.  Senior Rock Band instruments include the drum kit, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard and vocals.
Chamber orchestra is a group of students who are passionate about stringed instruments. Students can choose to play either violin or cello in a group that plays a range of music from classical to covers of hit pop songs.
