Loganlea Youth Development Program (LYDP)

LOGANLEA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Loganlea Youth Development Program (LYDP) is a leadership program run by Loganlea State High School in partnership with Kirra Surf Lifesaving Club. LYDP is advertised as a leadership program for our year 11 and 12 students and as such the students are expected to maintain a high level of behaviour and commitment to both school and the Surf Lifesaving Club.
Students go through an application process each year, which includes a written application, interview with the Principal and a pool swim. Approximately 20 students complete the program annually.
LYDP involves students completing two camps and excursion days each year. During these camps, students gain valuable awards and experience that benefit both themselves and their community.
Students gain their Certificate II in Public Safety (Bronze Medallion) on the first camp. After they get this award they are expected to patrol Kirra beach on weekends during the surf season. Students also gain their First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, Advanced Resuscitation Certificate and IRB Crewman certificate.
