Welcome to our new chaplain

3/05/2013
Greetings Loganlea high community,

My name is Glen Petersen, I am the new SU Qld school chaplain for Loganlea state high school. I'm excited to join the school community and to meet as many students and parents as I can over the coming term.

A little bit about myself: I am married to Tamar and we live in Mansfield which is also where I grew up. I have worked in shopping centre development, in-house and agency recruitment and labouring. I even had a stint years ago in crowd control as a security officer.

Outside of work, I love to hang out with Tamar and sneak in a round of golf or an early morning surf. We are both actively involved in our church (Hope Centre International) and I have volunteered in children's and youth ministry both here and in the Philippines.

My role as a chaplain is to provide pastoral care for the whole school community, and to help students to find ways to help themselves work through problems. Most importantly, I am here to listen. Confidentiality is a priority for me, following the Department of Education guidelines.

I believe our young people can achieve great things and I believe their character and attitude will help them sustain it long term. My role is to encourage.

I am available Monday to Friday - the students can catch up with me informally in the school yard during breaks, or appointments can be made via their teachers. I'm also available for telephone communication or appointments with parents on these days.

Once again, I look forward to meeting you all.
Blessings,
Glen Petersen
