Dance department update

Throughout term one and two the dance students have been very busy working on pieces for our upcoming performances. The Year 10 Dance and Senior Dance Studies students have been working hard to present on the upcoming Year 10 Arts Day on the 16th May. It will be from 10am to 11am in the Loganlea state high school hall and will feature dance and music items and an art display of student work. All are welcome to come our support our talented students.

The eisteddfod troupe has been working hard after school on their items entered in the upcoming eisteddfods. We have the senior troupe competing in the Ipswich Eisteddfod on Tuesday 4th June and the junior troupe performing on Wednesday the 5th June. Again, all are welcome to come along and support our students in this competition against other state and private schools from around Queensland. Both troupes will also be competing at the Brisbane  Performing Arts Challenge on the 14th June.  This is a local competition at the Logan Entertainment Centre so it would be great to see some supportive faces in the audience.
Our HYPE program is again in full swing for 2013. This group aims to engage students with low attendance and disengagement in classes due to a variety of reasons, students with unhealthy habits to increase exercise in an alternative way, students in foster care and students who are new to the school in senior years (10 - 12) and need support. They have been working with mentors Errol Cenita and Becky Carter, professional dancers and choreographers from Prince Academy on a routine that they will hopefully compete with at the upcoming eisteddfods and hip hop competitions. A big thank you must go to the Beenleigh Rotary Club and the Loganlea State High School P&C for their sponsorship and support of the program. Without their ongoing support we could not run this program. The group has been working hard and their routine will definitely be entertaining.
Please come and support us with our upcoming performances.  Feel free to call the Arts department for any further information on venues and performances.
